Why You’re More Tired Than You Should Be (And What to Do About It)

Why You’re More Tired Than You Should Be (And What to Do About It)

As a parent of three girls under seven, I know firsthand how draining it can be. The relentless energy of young kids, the sleepless nights, the constant demands—it’s a lot.

And while the exhaustion is real, I see too many people chalking up their fatigue to parenthood alone when, in reality, there are deeper imbalances at play.

You might have low testosterone. Or an underperforming thyroid.

Or maybe it’s something less common—mold toxicity, an autoimmune issue, or chronic inflammation that’s been simmering under the surface for years.

The problem is, figuring out what’s actually going on isn’t straightforward.

The Three Big Challenges Holding You Back

1. The Wrong (or Missing) Lab Tests

If you go to your doctor complaining of fatigue, there’s a 99% chance you won’t get the right labs.

Just yesterday, I reviewed a comprehensive panel for a father of three kids under five. His doctor told him everything was normal, but when we looked deeper, his thyroid markers were way off. His free T3 and T4 were significantly elevated—something his standard labs never even checked.

Without the right data, you’re stuck in the dark. You’re guessing, spinning your wheels, and getting nowhere.

2. The Only Solution You’re Given? Medication.

If your doctor does find an issue, the answer is almost always a prescription.

Low testosterone? Take testosterone.

Underactive thyroid? Here’s some levothyroxine.

But here’s the thing—most of these problems are fixable without meds. Your doctor isn’t looking for the root cause, just a Band-Aid. And the online health gurus? They’re just pushing generic supplements like tongkat ali, fadogia, and zinc—things that rarely move the needle in a meaningful way.

Cookie-cutter solutions get cookie-cutter results. A handful of people do great, but most end up right where they started.

And if you’re like the people I work with, you don’t have time to waste.

3. Most Approaches Aren’t Systems-Based

The body is an integrated system—everything is connected.

If you’re dealing with low testosterone, gut issues, thyroid imbalances, or fatigue, the most effective way to fix it isn’t by treating the symptom. It’s by addressing the underlying upstream imbalances causing those issues in the first place.

There are six major categories of upstream imbalances:

  • Nutritional deficiencies and excesses

  • Chronic stress and trauma

  • Autoimmune issues, allergies, and food sensitivities

  • Microbial imbalances (bacteria, viruses, mold, parasites, etc.)

  • Toxin exposure and detoxification issues

  • Lifestyle and environmental factors (sleep, exercise, light exposure, etc.)

If you’re trying to fix low testosterone but haven’t properly assessed these six factors, you’re missing critical pieces of the puzzle. And that’s often the difference between naturally restoring your hormone levels and ending up on TRT for life.

Because for most people, it’s not that they need medication.

It’s that they don’t know which levers to pull for their body.

Your Fatigue Isn’t Just Because You Have Young Kids

Yes, parenting is exhausting. But if you constantly feel drained, irritable, or not like yourself, don’t assume it’s just part of the deal.

There’s often something deeper at play—something that hasn’t been properly identified or addressed.

And once you figure out what it is? That’s when you stop surviving… and start thriving.
